Dear Editor:
Our supervisors want to put a 40-cent tax on cigarettes.
I am a smoker and I have another idea: Put a 20-cent tax on a pack of cigarettes and a 20-cent tax on each can of beer. This would bring in a lot more cash for our county. More people drink beer than smoke.
On the other hand, we should change our county to “Trashamack” instead of Accomack due to the trash in our ditches, or “Shackamack” due to all the shacks and falling-down buildings on Route 13.
If our county supervisors can’t handle this, they should be replaced.
