Mrs. Allene Lucille Gordy, wife of the late James Edgar Gordy, a resident of Tangier Island, passed away Sept. 8, 2021, at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News.
A faithful servant to the Lord, Allene was a devoted member of Swain Memorial United Methodist Church. She is survived by her two daughters, Cheryl Pruitt and her husband, Lorie, of Newport News, and Valerie Murphy, of Machipongo; a sister, Jeanette Crockett, of Tangier; two grandsons, Cameron Pruitt, of Douglasville, Ga., and Joshua Murphy, of Nassawadox; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Swain Memorial United Methodist Church, Tangier, Saturday, Sept. 25, 2021, with the Rev. Charles W. Parks III officiating. Interment will follow immediately after the memorial service.
